"The Cash+ does the one thing flat-rate cards should do — pay you on everything, immediately, with no caps — and then quietly sweetens it with 10% bonus checkpoints most people will hit without trying. The ⃃ 30,000 salary bar is the only reason it isn't on every UAE shortlist. Keep it away from foreign-currency spend and it's close to faultless as a default card."

Earning and redeeming Cash+ cashback

The engine is simple: 1% back on every eligible retail purchase, converted to ⃃ first if you spent abroad, and credited to your account the next working day. There are no bonus categories to remember, no minimum spend, and no cap — spend ⃃ 8,825 in a cycle and you earn ⃃ 88.25, exactly as HSBC's own worked example shows.

The clever part is the 10% Bonus Cashback. At the end of each statement month, quarter and year, HSBC pays 10% of the daily cashback you accumulated in that period — provided you spent ⃃ 5,000 in the month, ⃃ 25,000 in the quarter and ⃃ 125,000 in the year. The tiers stack: a consistent ⃃ 10,500-a-month spender qualifies for all three and takes the effective rate to roughly 1.3%. Cashback offsets your outstanding balance automatically; it can't be transferred or converted, and a missed minimum payment cancels the accrued bonus for that period — so pay on time.

Pros and cons

Pros
Cons
  • Flat 1% cashback on all eligible spend with no minimum and no earning cap — credited the next working day, not at month end
  • 10% bonus cashback on your daily cashback at monthly, quarterly and annual spend tiers (⃃ 5,000 / 25,000 / 125,000) — up to ~1.3% effective for heavy spenders
  • Unlimited lounge visits for you and one guest via Visa Airport Companion
  • USD 500,000 multi-trip travel insurance for the family, plus extended warranty and fraud cover
  • Realistic fee waiver: ⃃ 24,000 a year (⃃ 2,000 a month) keeps it free
  • ⃃ 30,000 minimum monthly salary shuts out most applicants
  • ⃃ 1,050 annual fee (VAT inclusive) if you spend under ⃃ 24,000 a year
  • 1% base rate is beaten by category cashback cards on dining, fuel and groceries
  • 2.1% foreign-currency fee plus a scheme fee of up to 1.21% — not a card for overseas spend
  • 44.28% fixed APR (~3.69%/month) if you carry a balance, and the cinema perk needs ⃃ 10,000 monthly spend

Is it right for you?

Get this card if

  • You earn ⃃ 30,000+ and want one no-thought card that pays on every ⃃, every day.
  • You spend at least ⃃ 2,000 a month on it — that alone keeps the annual fee waived for good.
  • You value unlimited lounge access with a guest and real travel insurance without a premium-card fee.

Consider skipping it if

  • You earn under ⃃ 30,000 a month — HSBC's own Live+ takes you from ⃃ 5,000 with higher category rates.
  • Your spend concentrates in dining, fuel or groceries, where 5–6% category cards beat a flat 1%.
  • Much of your spending is in foreign currency — the ~3.3% combined FX cost swamps the 1% back.
