Rewards rate
“If your children are at GEMS, this card attacks your biggest bill head-on — 3% off a full year's tuition is real money, and 10% back on the bus and uniforms adds up fast. The catch is cash-flow: the best discount wants the whole year upfront, so it rewards families who can pay early, not those who need to spread it out.”
Earning school-fee savings and cashback
The GEMS World card's core benefit is the Advance Tuition Fee Discount Scheme: pay GEMS tuition in advance with the card and a fixed discount applies — 3% for the full academic year, 1.9% for two terms, 0.8%–1.1% for one term, each with a published payment deadline. Discounts apply on net fees after any concessions, and at least one full term must be paid in advance.
Beyond tuition, school-related expenses — bus, canteen, uniforms and non-school activities — earn 10% cashback, and when paying upfront isn't practical, GEMS payments of 1,000+ convert to a 0% easy payment plan with no fees for up to 12 months. Everyday spending earns a modest up-to-1% at home and up-to-2% abroad; FAB doesn't publish the caps, so treat the school categories as the reason to hold the card.

Is it right for you?
Get this card if
- Your children attend GEMS schools and you can pay at least a term — ideally the year — in advance.
- You spend on school extras like the bus, canteen and uniforms every month.
- You can route 24,000 a year of everyday spend through the card to kill the fee.
Consider skipping it if
- Your children aren't at GEMS — every headline benefit assumes they are.
- You'd need to carry a balance to afford advance payment; 3.99% a month devours a 3% discount.
- You want strong everyday rewards — up-to-1% domestic cashback is below par.
