Rewards rate
"Duo's pitch is charmingly literal: apply once, get a Diners Club card and a Mastercard, and let each do what it's good at — Diners opens lounges and golf courses, Mastercard pays for everything. The 5% on essentials is real money for an Abu Dhabi family, but the 500-point statement cap means it stops earning at about 10,000 of category spend. Know that ceiling before you build your budget around it."
Earning and redeeming Plus Points
Since 5 April 2025 the rules are: 5% Plus Points on grocery, electronics, utilities, education and fuel — provided your statement spend reaches 5,000; miss the bar and those categories pay 1.5%. Everything else, including travel, dining, hotels and online shopping, earns a flat 0.5%. Earning is capped at 500 Plus Points per statement, so roughly 10,000 of 5%-category spend is the most that counts in a month.
Both cards feed the same Plus Points balance, redeemable through Emirates NBD's usual channels, including instant redemption at key merchant outlets. The practical play: route supermarket runs, DEWA-style bills, school fees and fuel through Duo up to the cap, and put travel and dining on a card that actually rewards them.

Pros and cons
- Two cards on one account — use Diners Club or Mastercard wherever each is accepted, and stack both networks' offers
- 5% Plus Points on groceries, electronics, utilities, education and fuel — a genuinely high rate on essentials
- Worldwide premium lounge access plus complimentary golf at top UAE courses
- Buy-1-get-1 movie tickets at Cine Royals and a concierge desk
- No annual fee under the bank's current offer
- Exclusive to Abu Dhabi residents
- The 5% rate needs 5,000+ statement spend (else 1.5%) and is capped at 500 Plus Points per statement — the cap lands at roughly 10,000 of category spend
- Everything else earns just 0.5%, including travel, dining, hotels and online
- Diners Club acceptance is limited, so the Mastercard will do most of the work
- Airport transfers and valet parking were discontinued from 5 April 2025, and the KFS still lists a 840 joining/renewal fee
Is it right for you?
Get this card if
- You live in Abu Dhabi, earn 12,000+ and spend 5,000+ a month on the card.
- Groceries, fuel, utilities, school fees or electronics dominate your budget — that's where the 5% lands.
- You like the idea of a Diners card for lounges and golf with a Mastercard for everyday acceptance.
Consider skipping it if
- You live outside Abu Dhabi — the card isn't offered to you.
- Your spending is mostly travel, dining or online — those earn just 0.5% here.
- You spend far beyond 10,000 a month on essentials — the 500-point cap freezes your earning exactly where it should accelerate.
