"This card makes sense at one spend level: ⃃ 10,000 a month, every month. That is what switches on the golf, the valet and the half-price VOX tickets, and ⃃ 100,000 a year is what kills the fee. Below that line the perks go dark and you're better off with CBD's free cashback cards."

Earning and redeeming CBD Rewards Points

The Visa Infinite earns up to 2.5 CBD Rewards Points per ⃃ 1 domestically and up to 3 internationally — on paper one of the highest headline rates in the UAE. The asterisk is the phrase 'up to': CBD publishes neither the tiering behind it, nor an earning cap, nor what a point is actually worth in ⃃, so the real return only becomes visible once you hold the card.

Redemption happens in the CBD Mobile App: convert points to Emirates Skywards Miles, or take cashback, shopping vouchers, flights, hotel bookings, charity donations or Pay with Points at the till. The Skywards route is the interesting one for travellers, though the conversion rate is also unpublished — check it in the app before you commit points.

Pros and cons

Pros
Cons
  • First year free, and the ⃃ 787.50 fee is waived every year you spend ⃃ 100,000+ on the card
  • Points convert to Emirates Skywards Miles, or redeem instantly for cashback and vouchers in the app
  • 12 lounge visits a year include a guest — many cards charge for companions
  • Genuinely broad lifestyle bundle: golf, valet, half-price VOX tickets and Emaar discounts
  • Supplementary cards are free for life
  • Golf, valet and cinema perks all require ⃃ 10,000 retail spend in the same calendar month — and the cinema discount is clawed back if you fall short
  • 3.5% foreign transaction fee (charged even on ⃃-priced international transactions) plus the Visa scheme fee on top
  • 3.85% monthly interest (46.20% APR) is among the highest in the UAE market
  • Earn rates are 'up to' figures — the bank does not publish the tiering, the earning cap or the ⃃ value of a point
  • Lounge access needs Visa Airport Companion registration, and guest visits burn two of your 12 annual visits

Is it right for you?

Get this card if

  • You spend ⃃ 10,000+ a month on retail anyway — that single threshold unlocks golf, valet and cinema
  • You'll clear ⃃ 100,000 a year, making the card effectively free for life
  • You want points that convert to Skywards Miles with instant in-app redemption as a fallback

Consider skipping it if

  • Your monthly card spend is under ⃃ 10,000 — the headline perks simply won't activate
  • You spend a lot abroad — 3.5% fx plus scheme fees erases the extra international earn rate
  • You want a transparent rewards return — CBD publishes neither point value nor earning caps
