"This is a first-year card. The 70,000-point bonus, Smiles Unlimited trial and unlimited lounges are worth well over the ⃃ 1,199 fee — but from year two you're paying premium money for a card with no published earn rate, so set a renewal reminder and re-run the maths."

Earning and redeeming Smiles points

Unusually for a co-brand card, ADIB publishes no per-⃃ earn rate on Smiles covered cards. Rewards come in lumps instead: 70,000 Smiles points on sign-up, then 10,000 points each quarter in which you spend ⃃ 25,000 on the card — a maximum of 40,000 points a year, and nothing for a quarter where you fall short. The bank also notes points are granted at its discretion from shareholders' funds.

Redemption is the strong half of the story. Smiles points spend like money inside the Smiles app — food and grocery orders, home services, vouchers, devices and etisalat bills — and stretch to flights on 1,000+ airlines and 50,000+ hotels worldwide. If your household already runs on Smiles, the points are genuinely liquid.

Is it right for you?

Get this card if

  • You already order food, groceries and home services through the Smiles app most weeks.
  • You'll reliably spend ⃃ 25,000 a quarter on the card to trigger the bonus.
  • You want unlimited lounges, valet and roadside assistance bundled with the points.

Consider skipping it if
