Rewards rate
"The Gold card is really a companion-ticket subscription with a miles program attached. If 150,000 a year flows through your card, a two-for-one Etihad ticket in any cabin for a 1,050 fee is genuinely good value; if it doesn't, the thin 1-mile-per--4 earn rate won't carry the fee on its own."
Earning and redeeming Etihad Guest Miles
The earn table is the entry-level one: 1 mile per 4 locally, 1.5 per 4 on international spend (0.6 at EEA merchants), and 0.5 per 4 across the 'specific merchants' list — supermarkets, government services, utilities, education, petrol, real estate, public transport, Salik and charities. Linking the card in the Etihad Guest app adds 1 mile + 1 Tier Mile per 3 at 'miles on the go' partners, which is worth doing at this earn level.
Miles post to your Etihad Guest account (within about 6 weeks of your statement) and redeem for flights, upgrades and hotels. The card's real engine is the milestone: 150,000 of spend in a year earns a companion ticket voucher — any Etihad destination, any cabin, valid 12 months and redeemed at etihadguest.com. Four return Etihad flights in your first 12 months also fast-track you to Silver Tier, with priority check-in and Etihad Lounge access in Abu Dhabi.

Pros and cons
- The same any-destination, any-cabin Etihad companion ticket as ADIB's premium tiers, at the lowest covered-card fee
- 35,000 welcome miles plus a campaign of up to 100,000 additional miles until 31 December 2026
- Two LoungeKey visits a year and free roadside assistance — rare at this fee level
- Silver fast track after 4 return Etihad flights, and Miles on the Go partner earning via the Etihad Guest app
- Sharia-compliant covered card with no interest; a self-funded variant exists at 350/year
- Thin earn rate — 1 mile per 4 locally (0.25/) is roughly a third of the Infinite card's rate
- 1,000 + VAT is still a real fee for a card without valet, golf or transfers
- It's a covered card — the limit must be secured by a cash deposit or Murabaha arrangement
- Supermarkets, fuel, utilities and education earn just 0.5 miles per 4
- 2.3% service fee on non- spend eats into the international earn rate
Is it right for you?
Get this card if
- You'll realistically put 150,000 a year on the card — the companion ticket is the whole business case.
- You want an Islamic Etihad co-brand at the lowest fee, with a 350 self-funded fallback.
- You fly Etihad enough that 4 return flights in a year (the Silver fast track) is plausible.
Consider skipping it if
- You're chasing miles on everyday spend — 1 mile per 4 locally is among the thinner rates around.
- You won't come near 150,000 a year; the fee then buys little beyond the welcome miles.
- You want lounge access on every trip — two solo visits a year is a taster, not a perk.
Alternatives to consider
Twice the earn rate, 4 lounge visits and a Gold fast track after just 2 return flights — for 1,000 more a year.
