Rewards rate
"The sign-up bonus pays the first year's fee, so the Aldar Platinum is close to a free trial of Darna Rewards on an Islamic card. Just don't assume every Aldar dirham earns 6% — ADIB's own page puts the malls at 1%, so it shines brightest at Aldar's hotels and resorts."
Earning and redeeming Darna Points
The Platinum earns 120 Darna Points per AED 100 (6% back) at eligible Aldar Retail and Aldar Hospitality entities, 30 points (1.5%) on international spend outside the European Economic Area (EEA) and 20 points (1%) on other local spend. ADIB's product page lists Aldar Malls and Aldar Development in the 1% tier, although the comparison table on its Aldar Cards page shows 6% at Aldar Malls — worth confirming with the bank. EEA merchants and the "specific merchants" list (supermarkets, fuel, utilities, government, education, real estate agents, transport, Salik, charities) earn 5 points (0.25%).
ADIB values 1 Darna Point at AED 0.05. Points are tracked and redeemed in the Darna Rewards / Live Aldar app — as cashback to your card or to friends, Aldar mall gift cards, Khidmah services, charity donations, or a boost to your Darna tier. The card also gives you complimentary Darna Gold status.

Is it right for you?
Get this card if
- You use Aldar hotels, resorts and retail regularly and want a low-fee Islamic card for them
- You want Darna Gold status and a few lounge visits a year without paying AED 999
- You can reach AED 45,000 a year in total spend so the fee is reversed from year 2
Consider skipping it if
- Most of your Aldar spending is at the malls — ADIB's product page pays only 1% there
- You carry a balance — the fixed 3.75% monthly profit rate is among the UAE's highest
- You want unlimited lounge access — the Aldar Visa Infinite includes it
Alternatives to consider
Emirates NBD's Darna Signature also targets Aldar destinations with Darna Gold status, but it is a conventional (non-Islamic) card.
Same AED 199 fee on a Sharia-compliant card, but 3% back in SHARE Points at Carrefour and Majid Al Futtaim malls and 1.25% on other local spend.
10% back at Aldar Malls and Aldar Hospitality, unlimited lounge access with a guest and Darna Platinum — AED 999, reversible from year two.

Frequently asked questions
Does the ADIB Aldar Visa Platinum have an annual fee?+
Yes — AED 199 plus 5% VAT. From the second year onwards the fee is reversed if, in the previous year, you spent the equivalent of AED 15,000 in non-AED transactions or AED 45,000 in total local and international spend. The first four supplementary cards are free; the fifth and later cost AED 199 a year.
What is the welcome bonus?+
4,000 sign-up Darna Points, worth AED 200 at ADIB's stated value. You must activate the card and make your first retail purchase within 30 days of the card being issued.
How much are Darna Points worth?+
ADIB values 1 Darna Point at AED 0.05, redeemable through the Darna app — so 120 points per AED 100 is 6% back. Points can go to cashback on your card (or to friends), Aldar mall gift cards, Khidmah services, charity, or a higher Darna tier.
Does Aldar Malls spending earn 6%?+
ADIB is inconsistent. The card's product page (and its card tile on the Aldar page) pays 6% at "Aldar Retail and Aldar Hospitality" and lists Aldar Malls under the 1% local tier, while the comparison table on ADIB's Aldar Cards page shows 6% at Aldar Malls. Check with ADIB before counting on 6% at the malls.
Which spending earns the least?+
EEA merchants and ADIB's "specific merchants" earn 5 Darna Points per AED 100 (0.25%): supermarkets, government services (fines, taxes), utilities, education, petrol stations, real estate agents, public transport, road tolls/Salik and charities.
Does it include airport lounge access?+
Yes — complimentary access to over 1,000 lounges in more than 300 cities for the cardholder and one guest through the Visa Airport Companion app, up to 4 times a year.
Is the card Sharia-compliant?+
Yes. ADIB Aldar cards are covered cards structured free from interest (riba). If you don't pay in full, a fixed monthly profit rate of 3.75% (45.63% APR) applies; paying the full balance within the up-to-55-day grace period avoids it.
How do I apply, and what salary do I need?+
The "Apply Now" button on ADIB's Aldar page sends you to the ADIB mobile app, or you can apply at a branch. Bring your passport, Emirates ID, three months of bank statements and a salary certificate under 30 days old. ADIB doesn't publish a card-specific minimum salary; its covered-card Key Facts Statement sets AED 5,000 a month as the general floor.
